Final Results!!!

I am taking this time to reflect on my success at this point on my Jenny Craig journey. I started out hoping that I could lose 20lbs – and Jenny Craig helped me make that happen NO PROBLEM! Then I decided to lose another 20lbs and I DID IT! Then I thought I would go for ANOTHER 10lbs for a total of 50lbs down. But I realize I am now feeling AWESOME and I really want to stop and ENJOY myself at this time. I talked to my Consultant about this and we decided to start my Maintenance phase to my Program. I am so glad that I now have this support for the next phase of my new LIFESTYLE!! Thank you Jenny Craig!

In total I lost 47.3 pounds and 35 inches off of 4 measured spots on my body!!   I  feel amazing AND definitely can see the difference in my pictures!!

Maintaining my Progess and Getting Closer to my Goal

This week was great! I was on track and focused! Seeing the scale stay on track really made a huge difference in how successful I feel.  After challenges getting in the way I now feel back in my zone.

At my Jenny Craig appointment I was down another 0.3 after my big drop last week. Total loss 47.3lbs!!!!!  There we go!!

Next week should be quite exciting! Going back to the big drop followed by small drop pattern could mean I get to my goal!!!

Back in the Game!

Life is back to normal and the scale definitely agrees!!!! My weigh in last week was at 157.9!  My new low!! It definitely is a big loss and getting back on track helped to make that happen.  I am so close to my 50lbs goal now!  I can't wait!!

This week my Jenny Craig consultant and I discussed some of my motivators.  I really want to be able to fit all my fave clothes in my closet again.  I want to be healthy for my son.  I want to be active and feel great!!!

Since my Jenny Craig journey started I have felt more confident, my back has stopped getting sore and I enjoy being active again.

I really can't wait to see my results this week.  I know that getting to that 50lb mark will feel great!  It is also my pre-pregnancy weight which is where I want to be again!  Soon I will be starting my next phase in my Jenny Craig Journey -keeping it off for life! :)

Curve Ball

Life simply goes as expected without any hiccups and then out of the blue a curve ball shows up.  I think we all can relate. This week I thought I was ready and able to handle the extra company I planned on having.  It didn't go as planned.  Unexpected meals and unexpected company were followed by unexpected stress.  :(  This is where old habits and quick fixes came into play.  I have the same go to choices that many have- meals without veggies, high carb snack when I have forgotten to eat every 2-3hours (I get really lightheaded), lots of coffee and a glass of wine.  The busier I am the less I take care of myself and just focus on the others that need me to care for them.

Obviously I saw a gain on the scale this week.  In a normal week of my own food choices I would have taken much better care of myself.  Getting overwhelmed and taking on more than I am used to made this past week not a normal thought out week. In hindsight I could have taken a few minutes to call my Jenny Craig consultant and it would have helped immensely but I thought I would get back on track the next day.

This week I really leaned on my consultant while I learn to get back on track. In diets in the past, this type of set back might have made me give up. But my Jenny Craig Consultant told me about  the 3day rule, how water retention works in the body,  helping me to understand I can expect a big drop next week as I get back on track. She also said something that I think is the perfect example of why Jenny Craig is above any other weight loss support out there: she reminded me that I am here to not only ‘lose weight’, I am here to become a life-long weight manager. And that set-backs are going to be a part of life, even when I have been at my goal weight 2 years down the road. It’s not about making mistakes. It’s about learning how to get back on track. That's the key to strong weight management control for the future. In other words, this week, not only am I going to be rewarded with a big drop I am learning a very important life lesson for myself!!!

Happy New Year

On December 31st I was proud to step on the scale and see 158.9.  I gained 0.9lbs in two weeks. I am happy about a gain. Seems funny but I am. In the two weeks before and after Christmas. Definitely felt like a success.  I didn't deprive myself or avoid desserts or treats. I thought about my choices before eating them most times and I enjoyed all that I wanted 100%. I had my Jenny Craig plan and meals that played a role at times but I definitely had lots of unexpected meals and treats.

To look at things a different way - my weight loss in the month of December is 4.9lbs.  I lost weight over Christmas!  definitely would not have been able to do it on my own.  My Jenny Craig consultant helped me with careful planning and my Jenny Craig menu made the days that were routine 100% weight loss days.  Every single day on track helped make this December a success.  :)

Looking forward I can't wait to get to my goal of 50lbs lost.  It will be a few weeks later than planned but I will be there by the end of January.  Here's to having a great New Year and ringing in 2014 a new mom and 46.1 lbs lighter than last year.

Tis' the Season

I hope everyone has had a wonderful Christmas!  It has been really great for me and my little family.  We have had a bit of travel, a few family get togethers and some quiet relax time together.  Food-wise I think it has gone okay.  I have made some better choices than in the past and thinking about my goal has helped me to stick to or get back to my planned Jenny Craig meals.

Having lost the weight I have already done with the help of Jenny Craig definitely made a positive difference in how I enjoyed and celebrated this Christmas.  It felt great to wear a fitted outfit with my favourite winter coat.  I was comfortable and confident.  Being able to wear a smile all day especially when pictures were being taken created a great memory to revisit.

My Jenny Craig appointment was on boxing day but I did not weigh.  I was unsure what the scale would say and didn't want to see an inflated number after have a few meals on my own.  Sometimes higher sodium or water retention can affect the scale.  Either way I am quite happy to be back on my routine and I look forward to seeing what the scale says on New Year's Eve.

All I want for Christmas......

:)  Such a good week. Not a perfect week. But a good week.  I had a birthday party and date night that came up unexpected.  It is great to be able to say with my Jenny Craig experience so far I made choices that were moderate and satisfying! I definitely want to take this week's experience to help me make the same type of positive choices over the Christmas season.

At my Jenny Craig appointment I was thrilled to see 158.0! I had a 3.5lb drop this week!  My current weight loss is 46.9lbs!  I am so close to my 50 pound goal!! Only 3.1lbs to go!  With only 2 weeks until the date I set it will mean keeping my goal in mind all day long.

I am now able to do up my 2 favourite winter coats.  I bet with that next 3.5lbs they will fit comfortably again!  That will be really rewarding to put away my oversized coat and wear the coats I feel great in instead!

This week my Jenny Craig Consultant and I planned out my menu and strategies from now until after Christmas.  I would like to find time to go in on Saturday before any travelling and see where I am at.  This is a great strategy to keep me stuck like glue to my menu until then and it will be motivation to make smart choices while I am away a few days.

A few important tips were shown to me by my consultant that will help me be successful.
  • Planning what I will do, Preparing anything I need and Prempting challenges by having healthy choices or alternatives available.
  • Getting back on track as soon as I can and stay on track where ever I can.  If I keep more focused on finding ways to be successful instead of wanting to take a break when I am this close it will make my goal a reality now instead of at the end of January!
  • In the end if I make healthier choices this Christmas it will have zero negative impact in my life.  Healthy is definitely smart! :)

Woohoo! Great week!

I stuck to my Jenny Craig menu 100% this week and it felt fabulous to not have anything planned or unexpected steer me off course!  Fabulous because each day I follow my plan I know I am losing weight and getting one step closer to my goal! :)

At my Jenny Craig appointment I was excited to see a 2.3 lb loss!  It felt great to get such good results!  I am now at 43.4 lbs lost at 25 weeks.  My average is at 1.7 lbs per week.  I have 3 weeks left to my goal of 50 lbs and need to lose 2.2 lbs per week to make the deadline.  It is healthy to lose 1%-1.5% of your body weight weekly.  At my current weight I can healthily lose 1.6 lbs-2.4 lbs weekly.  With my average being at 1.7 lbs per week it will take all that I can to reach this goal by January 1st.  I am determined to do the best that I can and I know the results will follow.

Next week I have no challenges expected.  This means I should be able to stick to my Jenny Craig menu 100% and maximize my results. With Christmas around the corner it will feel great to be losing weight at a time when everyone I know is more concerned with gaining weight with all the challenges the holidays bring.  Already I have lost 2.9lbs in the month of December and I definitely will end the month having lost weight!
Here is a picture from the Christmas party! :)

Christmas Party

The Christmas party was a huge success! Thank goodness I started Jenny Craig when I did!!! I felt great and had a great time.

I am also so thankful for all of the pre-planning I worked through with my Jenny Craig Consultant! My Consultant also made sure I was super focussed and ready to follow through with all those plans. And as it turned out, my food choices went as planned- moderate portion and no second helpings!

Having a chance to get all dressed up and take extra care getting ready was a big treat.  Its moments like that when I really can zone in on where I have lost the weight and much of a difference it has made to my appearance.  At the party the few people I knew really well thought I looked great and really noticed how much weight I have lost.  When others notice it really makes me smile.  I felt so confident the whole night!

This week my weight loss was 0.6lbs.   I was really happy  with my measurements. 9.25 inches lost in 5 weeks.  Overall total loss is at 41.1 lbs and 32.75 inches.
Jenny Craig is teaching me that there are so many other ways to measure my success. Each week that I continue with following through with my Jenny Craig menu plan, I am strengthening my new habits, I am reinforcing my new healthier ways of thinking about food and I am more reassured than ever that it’s not ‘IF’ I reach my goal weight, it’s ‘WHEN’!!

And the plan is still reach 50lbs off by January 1st- New Year’s, here I come! J

40.5lbs total!!!

This week was a smaller drop. 0.5lbs. But luckily, my Jenny Craig Consultant was there for me to point out that I have a pattern to my weight loss! And, she also mentioned that it’s completely normal to have a big drop, followed by a smaller drop… only to be followed by another BIG drop. I can’t wait for next week – already! Had my JC Consultant not mentioned this, I might have felt a bit down. But now, I get it and I feel even more motivated to have another awesome week this week!

My Jenny Craig Consultant also said that we will be taking measurements to see where my inches have come off! It’s such a great suggestion – I can’t wait to see and have that confirmation again that this Program is really working!!!

I am starting to fit into some of my early-pregnancy clothes.  It feels really good to start to shop in my own closet.  I have been enjoying look through some of my clothes and thinking to myself, "Soon this will fit!"

With the holidays fast-approaching, my Consultant reassured me that she has plenty of strategies and handouts, nutritional information specific to Christmas goodies, that I will be more than armed to feel in control this whole season! She even mentioned that there will be a collection of handouts and that this month is one of the best to be a member of Jenny Craig because of all their additional support they offer during the holidays!

This week I am going to a work Christmas party.  I am not too concerned over food choices because they usually offer a well rounded meal and there won't be snacks lying about.  It really helped to discuss better drink choices with my consultant.  It is amazing how many favourite drinks can be loaded with tons of calories.  It should be a fun night!

Here's to getting to my goal for New Years!  50lbs!  I know I can do it!

Friday, 22 November 2013

Woohoo!!! 40lbs down!!

I did it!!!  What a great feeling!  Being down 40lbs feels fantastic!  I really am starting to feel more like myself.  I take more pride in my appearance and have a much more positive outlook.  Seeing how far I have come from the pictures says it all. Jenny Craig has made a big difference in my appearance, health, energy and mindset.

In my Jenny Craig consultation this week we celebrated hitting the next 10lbs mark and talked about my motivation.  Right now I am motivated by looking into my closet and seeing my favorite clothes that I want to be able to wear again.  I am motivated by my son. I want to be healthy and  a role model of healthy, active living. Lastly I am motivated by these pictures. They show me how far I have come and hint at what will change with just 10 more pounds.

My Jenny Craig Consultant and I looked at where my goals need to be to reach my goal of 50lbs by Dec. 31st.  With 6 weeks to go my weight loss needs to be  1.7lbs weekly.  I know I have my work cut out for me but I really want to make this happen.  It will take commitment to my Jenny Craig menu plan, smart holiday choices and the drive to make it happen now instead of sometime in the New Year.

If you have ever thought about losing weight, come join me and lose 10lbs before Dec 31st. Let’s do this together!

I can't wait until next week!

What a great week!  I stuck to my Jenny Craig menu, including enjoyed one well proportioned meal out with my spouse and went for two walks. Then at my Jenny Craig appointment I weighed in at 166.9lbs!!!!  That means I lost 2.5lbs this week for a total of 38lbs!!

I can't wait until next week!  I am going to be at the 40lbs lost mark.  My Jenny Craig consultant will take another progress picture.  Pictures make it really easy to see the changes I have made with my weight loss.  Sometimes it is the best way to really notice how much of a change has happened.  I will also have new measurements taken.  It has been a great week but next week will be even better! :)

My plan is to stick to my menu and try to get in a few walks (if my little one decides to sleep this week that is!) and the results will follow. It's that simple!

Planning for Success

I am learning about Jenny Craig’s phrase: ‘It’s about progress, not perfection’. Because if you are human, there’ll be mistakes. It’s about how a person reacts to it and gets back on track that really matters. This past weekend with a lot of unexpected company in town, I had a few unplanned meals off of my Jenny menu. With those extras, I had a gain of 0.3lbs. That said, this week’s Jenny Craig consultation is an example of WHY this is such an amazing Program – I am already back on track and I couldn’t have done it without my Jenny Consultant! She helped me learn what options I could do next time, and move on with my week.
I am now focussed forward and ready to lose another 2lbs!!!

I had some really great compliments when we went out with friends.  Some of them had not seen me in a few months and were quite impressed with how much I have lost.  It feels great to have others notice.  I definitely smiled a lot that night.  Thinking about the compliments will help me to keep focused and get to my goal.   Next time I see them I will be at my goal and wearing my favourite outfits again!

This week looks to be a great week!  I feel ready for any unexpected company and I can't wait to step on the Jenny Craig scale and see my next milestone -164.9lbs and 40lbs lost!

Check that off my list!

Yay!!! 169.1!  It feels great to have hit my mini goal of seeing the 160's!  This week I stuck to my Jenny Craig plan 100% and lost 2.8lbs!!!!  I am down 5.2lbs this month and 35.8lbs total.   My current measurements show a loss of 23.5 inches.

I did get in activity this week.  I went for 3 walks and went to 1 water aerobics class. I felt so much more energized and focused this week. I think the activity really helps my mindset.  I want to try to keep doing some activity each week.

Stats so far --- 35.8lbs in 19 weeks =1.9lbs/week average.
Goal -50lbs for Jan 1st.  14.2lbs in 9weeks.  I need to aim to lose at a rate of 1.6/week.

This means I need to stay strong and focused to get this done.  Nine weeks is not far away and then I can step into the New Year having lost 50lbs!

Next mini goal is getting to the 40lb mark. I can lose the 4.2lbs realistically in 2 or 3 weeks.  So by Nov 12 or 19th I want to be celebrating that goal.

With my Jenny Craig consultant this week I set my goal to see 1.6lbs lost.  I committed to my Jenny Craig menu plan and the same activity as last week to make it happen.  Every little bit counts and I can't wait to start fresh in the new year.  How great it going to feel to be able to wear my favorite outfits again!

Focus- let's see the 160s!!!!

So this week felt like a win. After a really rough week last week I was able to stick to my plan a lot better and when a few events came up I made choices I was really proud of.  This week at my Jenny Craig appointment my weight was 171.9.   Down 0.2 in two weeks. That was definitely not the plan but slip ups are a part of life and it is something to learn from.  I am very happy to have lost weight instead of seeing a gain on the scale. This has put me back 2 weeks but I know I will be able to get going and reach my goal.  Next week I will see the 160s. It will feel so great to be that much closer to where I want to be!

Now I feel back on track and ready to push forward with renewed commitment and focus.  This week I set the goal of being active 3 time.  I have already researched the two walking tracks, gym memberships and classes I would like to attend.  I always feel better when I am active and can't wait to get it started. I feel I will 100% accomplish this goal. :)

The ease of following the Jenny Craig program definitely makes a big difference.  I really don't even had to think about it.  I just look at my menu and get ready the meals as they are listed.  I keep my favorite vegetables, milk and salad dressings in stock.  Typically I eat a variety of  salads, frozen  broccoli/cauliflower, spinach, carrots and tomatoes. It always feels great when I finish my day and see that I have crossed off everything for that day because it means I have basically guaranteed weight loss.  Definitely an easy way to gauge what to expect when I go to my Jenny Craig appointment.

Crash & Refocus

As the title states -this was a rough week.  My son was sick at the end of last week and it kept going on and off for the whole week.  Lack of sleep, stress and emotions way out of whack!   Plus throw in being out of town, hospital visits and Thanksgiving and it just equalled disaster! The lesson is that I NEED to take better care of myself whenever life throws me curve balls because when I do not everything unravels and it makes it really easy not to make the best choices for myself.  This means asking for help if needed or choosing to eat something early to keep my hunger level at bay.

Due to the craziness of the week. I did not look at the scale this week.  I did step on it to be recorded to look back at  next week but I felt it would not motivate me. My Jenny Craig consultant reassured me and helped me refocus for this new week.  It is really important to me to not let this one week really set me back in reaching my goals.  Together we planned a week with focus on my menu, combined with  getting enough rest and water.

Without the support and accountability of Jenny Craig I know it the past I might not have refocused and moved forward. It can be really easy to let one "bad" week wreck a really positive journey.  Having someone that is on my side to help me get back on track really makes the difference. I know I will get back on track and continue on to reach my goals because I am driven and I know if I stumble she will help me get back to where I want to be!

This week I really enjoyed the new Jenny Craig Roasted Turkey Medallions.  Simply a yummy turkey dinner minus all the high calories.  I did not plan to eat any of the leftovers from Thanksgiving so it really helped having this planned in to eat like a leftover meal.  I didn't feel like I was missing out and it actually felt like treat to have a second turkey dinner.

Stepping forward I am now rested and ready to take on my week with a better mindset.   I am so close to getting out of the 170s. It is going to feel awesome!  Once I cross that step I am even closer to my New Years goal of getting down to 155!  Being able to ring in the new year in my choice of the great outfits in my closet will  feel simply AMAZING!  To start off the New Year having lost 50lbs, feeling more confident, comfortable in my own skin and happy with the way that I look is definitely what will make it a great start to a fabulous year!

Meal out and Planning for Thanksgiving

So this week went by pretty good. I planned in a meal on my own with my Jenny Craig consultant and it went great.  I had looked up the nutritional information ahead of time to help me make a better choice.

I have really enjoyed wearing jeans.  They make me feel a lot more put together and really proud of my progress.

I had hoped to get out for activity but it didn't end up happening.  My son is teething. Which means cranky and not sleeping.  I know it wasn't an official plan to do but I still wanted to make time for it. In the end as long as I stick to my Jenny Craig menu plans the weight will keep coming off.  I love how effortlessly it works!

This week my weight was 172.1. Down2.4lbs this week.  33lbs in total. I am really close to getting out of the 170s!

Next week I am going to Edmonton for two days and celebrating Thanksgiving with my family.  I feel prepared to make smart choices and I look forward to seeing family and friends.  My Jenny Craig consultant and I set up a plan with easy travel ready foods and preplanned meal choices to ensure success.  I feel really good about it!

New clothes, New food and Lots to look forward to!

This week I went shopping!!! :)  It felt great to buy smaller sizes and get clothes that I feel great in.  I actually bought a pair of jeans and pants. It is such a nice change to be wearing "real" clothes instead of yoga pants every day.  I definitely feel more confident and look forward to getting dressed for the day.  I didn't buy a lot but I think it will be enough to get me to the clothes I have sitting in boxes in my closet.  I have a couple favorite tops that I had bought and wore on my birthday weekend in Jasper that I can't wait to get back into.

This week Jenny Craig has some new foods.  I tried the carrot cake muffin---so yummy!  I can't wait to try more new foods.  The variety makes a big difference and it is great to have some new items to add to my weekly menu.

My Jenny Craig consultant and I talked about activity goals again.  I am finding it so hard now that it is colder I don't see how to get my son to stay bundled up and I am not too sure how my back will handle it.  These are my excuses but it helps to know and see that even when I am not active the weight loss is still happening quite effortlessly.  This week the official plan is to not do anything.  Unofficially- I do plan to get to the multiplex at least once.

I lost 0.4lbs this week.  The scale didn't move much but that is okay. I am starting to get used to having a big drop one week and a small drop the next.  In the end as long as it keeps coming off I am not concerned.  In fact it leaves me excited to see what the scale will show next week at my Jenny Craig appointment.  I am only 4.6lbs from getting out of the 170's and into the 160's.  It will feel fabulous to say goodbye and good riddance to one set of numbers and move forward onto the smaller, healthier numbers!

Time to reset goals! :)

This week I was so excited to see that I had lost 3.5lbs!!!! That put me at a total weight loss of 30.2lbs!! I had been feeling great and especially "skinny" lately. The scale was just the icing on the cake so to speak.

I can definitely say I don't really recognize the person in my first photo.  I am much more confident and comfortable as I have lost the weight.  I am really happy with my progress and appreciate how much more flattering my curves are becoming.  I have gotten rid of some clothes and gone shopping in my clothes in my closet. It feels great to fit into smaller sizes and old favorites!

In my appointment this week my Jenny Craig consultant had me look at my new picture and shade in where I wanted to see the results as I continue to lose weight.  I want to see a more defined waistline, thinner profile and more toned arms.  All goals are perfectly do-able. It will just take time.  It helps
to look at the image I want to see and work towards.

When I look at my weeks on Jenny Craig it really only adds up to 14 weeks plus a couple off for vacation.  14 weeks= 30.2lbs lost= 2.2lbs/week average.

Now it is time to reset my goal.  There are 14 weeks until New Years. I would like to lose another 20lbs.  My average needs to be 1.4lbs/week.  This is very achievable with how it has already been going for me.  I know I will still need to stay dedicated and committed to my goals or obviously it won't happen.  With the support of my Jenny Craig consultant and the accountability of blogging about my weight loss journey I am confident I will get to my goal.
